Agrecovery is New Zealand’s sustainable solution for the recycling of farm plastics such as containers, drums, IBCs and small seed, feed and fertiliser bags. The recycling of these plastics from Agrecovery’s participating brands is free for all farmers and growers nationwide.
In October 2023, the associate Minister for the Environment accredited Agrecovery as the scheme manager to run the Green farms product stewardship scheme. Product stewardship is about the brand owner taking responsibility for the products they make and sell and providing solutions so they’re not ending up being burned or buried on farm. This scheme will see the following four plastic types become regulated in 2025, which means farmers and growers can drop off more of their plastic for free right across New Zealand – making it easier than ever for you to recycle!
1. Small seed, feed, and fertiliser bags
2. Large grain and fertiliser bags (bulk woven polypropylene (PP) bags)
3. Silage and baleage wrap
4. Agrichemical containers and large drums
Agrecovery is accredited as the scheme manager for seven years and each year we will be adding additional plastics that can be recycled from the Primary sector. Plastics such as wool fadges, hail netting, irrigation pipe and water tanks etc. are all on the list.
