We’re excited by the growth of our small bag recycling scheme. Last year, we exceeded all targets, collecting an impressive 45 tonnes of recyclable materials! That is equivalent to 450,000 bags. This success is testament to the efforts of farmers, growers as well as the manufacturers and distributors of these products.

Highlights of growing engagement

The response to our recycling scheme has been phenomenal:

  • Number of supporting brands increased to 57, up from 35 in February – a 63% increase in eight months.
  • 442 liners (fitting around 100 bags each) returned for recycling so far this year (July-September 2024), up from a total of 91 collected at the same time in 2023 – a 387% increase.

This incredible growth demonstrates the power of collective action in making a positive environmental impact.

As we celebrate our successes, we’re setting our sights even higher as we look ahead.

Expanding reach with farmers and growers

To boost recycling rates, we’re focusing on increasing engagement with farmers and growers, and working with rural retailers to create drop off points for liners to make recycling more convenient.

We’re committed to helping rural communities understand why different material needs specific preparation methods to support efficient recycling.

Remember: We are the only accredited scheme that ensures proper recycling practices and provides certificates for your records. This is particularly valuable for GAP compliance.

Garnering more support from manufacturers/importers

We’re thrilled that 57 brands are participating in the programme. We’re now eager to see this number grow.

It’s a team effort

Together, we’re not just meeting targets – we’re exceeding them and setting new standards for environmental responsibility. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. Let’s keep this momentum going and make an even bigger impact in the coming year!
